Chemical Pathology Advice & Guidance

RCHT Chemical Pathology Advice & Guidance

From 18th May 2020 Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust will be offering an advice and guidance service on e-Referrals for Chemical Pathology queries.

This can be found on ERS via:
Specialty: Endocrinology and Metabolic Medicine
Clinic Type: Lipid Disorders

The Advice & Guidance service is to be used to obtain a diagnosis or management advice from a Consultant within Chemical Pathology.

GPs will be able to request consultant advice on Chemical Pathology queries for potential referrals into secondary care.

The service is to offer advice on management and treatment options for GPs to consider prior to referral with the aim of reducing the number of patients who need to be seen face to face.

If review is required as there is a possibility of a familial dyslipidaemia, then please refer for face-to-face or virtual review - completion of an RCHT Family History form is required.

If the patient is already under the care of a Chemical Pathology Consultant please detail this in the request.

Clinical responsibility remains with the GP until the patient is seen within secondary care.

If you have any queries regarding this, please send to Emma.wheeler4@nhs.net
