Lymphadenopathy
- Referral pathway for cervical lymphadenopathy in children and when to arrange USS is available here.
- Clinically benign lymphadenopathy does not require USS to confirm the diagnosis.
- Unexplained palpable neck lumps raising the suspicion of malignancy should be referred through the 2ww head and neck pathway. Same day imaging +/- FNA is available, if deemed appropriate.
- Unexplained lymphadenopathy that raises the suspicion of haematological malignancy should be referred through the 2ww haematology pathway.
- Unexplained axillary lumps in women ≥30yrs of age should be referred through the suspected breast cancer pathway. Same day imaging is available, if deemed appropriate.
