getUBetter MSK Self Management App
Introduction
getUBetter is a MSK self management app that has been commissioned for patients in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
It helps people to self manage 80% of MSK conditions and is free to use.
It is free and available on both apple and android stores, it can also be used on a computer or laptop
Features
Within the app there are:
- Clinical safety questions and check ins, with option to return back to the clinical safety questions at any time
- If needed, advice on what part of the system they need to access
- Top tips
- Recovery plan
- Exercises including to mobilise, move, strengthen and activate
- Modules on managing pain, being on a waiting list, osteoarthritis and staying in/returning to work
- Local services that can help including Physiotherapy, Talking Therapies, Healthy Cornwall, local support services, Workwell
- Prevention section with exercises to stay well
Inclusion criteria
- 16 years and older
- Resident of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
- MSK condition excluding acute trauma, red flag pathology and post surgery
- Safe to self manage

Access to a smart phone, laptop or computer
Exclusions
- Under 16 years of age
- Acute trauma, red flag pathology and post surgery under active follow up
- Patients requiring targeted physio, acute injury or surgical management
- Non MSK conditions
How To Get The App
- Patients can download the app for free from apple or android stores
- They can access the QR code and link to the computer or laptop version using this link https://getubetter.org/486Z7hk
- They can scan the QR code from a poster or be sent an accurx link (these will be made available to you in practice)
On recommending, please advise patients that:
- The app does not replace professional help or advice
- If symptoms are getting worse, they can access the clinical symptom checker by selecting support, then symptom checker
- Information from the app, or the letters generated in the app will not be sent to their patient record or sent to any health services
- If the app recommends they attend a health service such as A&E, Minor Injuries or their GP, it is their responsibility to do so.
Digital Inclusion
- iCornwall can help patients who are struggling with apps by providing them with advice and support to get online. Digital Inclusion - Cornwall Council
- They also have devices such as phones and laptops they can load out to people.
