NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Referral Management Service (RMS)

Welcome to the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Referral Management Service (RMS), a service that is supported by NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System, and is clinically organised and led.

51 GP practices are members of the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly RMS giving it a strong clinical mandate for how it operates and its Board is made up of senior GPs who represent the views of their colleagues from across Cornwall and the IOS. Practices in the East of the County use our sister service known as the Devon Referral Support Services (DRSS).

The RMS was formed in April 2011 with a mandate to deliver the following:

1.  More patient choice and an improved patient journey.

2.  To act as a source of training and education for GPs, including locums, to support the delivery of high quality, right first time referrals that lead to a patient being seen in the right place, at the right time, first time for their first outpatient appointment.

3.  The provision of high quality and routine data to GPs, GP practices, commissioners and providers so that effective and efficient services can be commissioned based on evidence.

The site is designed as a clinical resource for GPs and the referral criteria are very focussed and written in a strong clinical language.  Patients can find more general information on their conditions by looking at the information for patients section.
