Cornwall Pain Cafes
This guideline applies to adults aged over 16 years.
Introduction
A Pain Cafe is a space that provides peer support, opportunities to learn pain self management skills and to share tips and experiences and activity to support wellbeing.
Referral
Pain Cafes provide support to people experiencing chronic pain in local community to low intensity support, tailored to the individual to
- Peer support for skills not pills approach to support self management of pain
- Reduce isolation and increase support networks
- Access help, support, information, guidance and connections to services
It is a prevention service for older adults with long term chronic pain, those people waiting for surgery, for people post-surgery in the community after rehabilitation programmes, people of working age who maybe off sick with pain or returning to work with long term pain conditions.
Please note that Pain Cafes are not suitable for people with complex mental health needs.
