Sedation for Diagnostics
The radiology department at RCHT does not prescribe anxiolytic or sedative medication to facilitate diagnostic imaging.
If an anxiolytic is required this should be prescribed by the referrer.
If sedative, anxiolytic or analgesic medication is required as part of an interventional radiology procedure or biopsy this is prescribed and administered by the radiology team as part of the procedure.
If sedation or a GA are required the patient is managed by a team from anaesthetics under the care of one of the admitting physicians at RCHT.
