Restless Legs Syndrome

Message from Dr Jonathan Stewart:

‘With regard to restless legs, I’m not convinced that we often add much value, other than in cases where there are concerns regarding a possible underlying neurological cause eg neuropathy. I would suggest that everyone should have undergone basic neuro examination and had iron deficiency excluded. It would seem reasonable to provide a trial of a licensed dopamine agonist and/or pregabalin/gabapentin and/or clonazepam in primary care’.
