Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, accepts referrals for children under 18 years old to the locality base where the child lives. The single point of contact approach through the Early Help Hub (EHH) has stopped, the CAMHS access team email address will cease to function.
Referral Criteria

Concerns about possible severe mental illness for example psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder

Serious Self harm
-
Depression or other mood disorder
-
Severe anxiety disorders including panic disorders, phobias which are causing significant impairment and post traumatic stress disorder.

Obsessive compulsive disorder
-
Severe complex disabling family dysfunction

Psycho-somatic disorders
-
Pervasive and severe behavioural difficulties in pre-adolescent children and young people

Emotional and behavioural difficulties with pervasive development disorders such as Neuro-developmental delay.

Risk of harm to others
- Children with profound and severe intellectual disability.
Exclusions
Anorexia Nervosa and other eating disorders - Please follow the Children’s Eating Disorder guidelines. Referrals are made to the Children and Young People's Eating Disorder Service (CEDS)
For assessment of possible Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or ADHD - please send referrals to the Neurodevelopmental Pathway via the Early Health Hub using the form on the website.
If a child has Social and Communication difficulties under the age of 3 please refer to Community Paediatrics
Referral Information
Referrals should be sent to the appropriate team where the child’s GP surgery is located:
- East Cornwall Team: cft.camhseastreferrals@nhs.net
- Mid Cornwall Team: cft.camhsmidreferrals@nhs.net
- West Cornwall: cft.camhswestreferrals@nhs.net
Please see the following link for further information on which team covers individual GP surgeries.
Referrals can be made by parents, carers, young person or professionals involved with the young person. Young people over the age of 13 can normally provide consent.
Referrals cannot be made over the phone.
Each referral is screened on day of receipt.

Urgent Response Assessments are conducted within 24-hours (including Sat/Sun & Holidays at RCHT)

High Priority Assessment within a working week
and

Routine Assessment within 28-days.
