Wren Team: Birth Reflections Service

 

Introduction

Support service provided by specialist midwives at RCHT for women and their partners who have perceived birth trauma. It is suitable for pregnant women, or those who have given birth in Cornwall, who may require clarity and understanding, validation and/or mental health support to process their birth experience. The service can refer onwards for psychological support if necessary.

 

Referral Criteria

Antenatally

Women must have had their dating scan and have either:

• previous traumatic birth experience, or
• true tokophobia (fear of childbirth)

Postnatally

There is no time limit for referral, but patients must have delivered in Cornwall and be at least 6 weeks post-partum.

 

Referral Process

Patients and health professionals can refer by emailing rcht.birthreflections@nhs.net
